On March 16th, 2017, SEGA revealed new info for Project Sonic 2017 and Sonic Mania. Among these new announcements, we got gameplay for PS2017 and it's official title, Sonic Forces.
At the SXSW event, we had footage but it was recorded on camera and wasn't the best quality. SEGA has now uploaded the full quality version on their Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Zm0FvEn5CU Following the Sonic Forces footage, Gameinformer published an article talking about what they saw when playing the Sonic Forces demo that SEGA had let them take a look at. This article confirms a little about the story, characters, and gameplay. Gameinformer also provided two cinematic looking screenshots. Here is all the info Gameinformer provided in their article: "The Modern Sonic mechanics in Sonic Forces are inspired heavily by the 3D gameplay found in Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, featuring a new version of the Hedgehog Engine used in those games. As seen in the teaser, Sonic runs through the streets while the city crumbles around him. As he turns a corner, two giant egg-shaped robots can be seen in the distance approaching the city via water. Sonic can't immediately do anything about those giant machines, so he opts to take care of the smaller bots right in front of him. He boosts through the first set before using his homing attack to knock out another group and reach a higher platform." "Throughout the rest of the stage, I see several familiar elements from the Sonic series, including grind-rails, ziplines, and boosters. As the level progresses, side-characters like Knuckles, Amy, and some members of the Chaotix communicate with Sonic via radio as if to report in on what they're seeing during the assault. Sega tells us that though these characters are present in the game, they are not playable. Instead, gameplay is focused on Modern Sonic, Classic Sonic, and a third style that Sonic Team is keeping close to its chest." "In Sonic Forces, Eggman has already conquered the world. He's won, and the effects can be seen throughout the various stages; this was immediately evident in the stage I saw. We don't know how the world has fallen under his control, but Sega is teasing further reveals for this in the lead-up to launch. Later in the stage, Sonic lands on a platform and the camera shifts to a side-perspective to deliver the modern gameplay with a side-scrolling twist that we've seen in prior games. Though this gives the sequence a definite retro feel, this gameplay is completely separate from the as-of-yet unveiled Classic Sonic stages."

Hey guys, this is Nargan, coming back after a LONG break.
Hey guys, this is Nargan. Well, it appears that the poor handling of the sonic boom franchise could have finally come back to bite it. After Cartoon Network decided to push the show back to a time slot that no one watched and then moved it to Boomerang which is a network that no one really gets the show seems like it's on its way out after a second season next year. Along with cancellation of the show it also appears that the games and merchandise will cease production after the run of the show. That's really all we have to go off of right now but it seems like one of the reasons is that Sega of Japan is tremendously disappointed with the performance of the product. Seeing as it was a Sega of America internalized project it's not really Sega of Japan's fault except for the fact that they cleared it for production. That's really all for now is this is a rumor but it seems very likely that this is true.
But hey, one positive out of all of this besides the fact that Boom won't exist (which I personally didn't like, though I found the show decent enough) is that maybe this will open up the line for more Classic Sonic games being outsourced just like Sonic Mania while Sega of Japan works on the newest 3D Modern Sonic Games. Recently the Sonic Unleashed Beta and Debug Menu was exposed by a Sonic Retro user who calls himself "N!NJA". Ninja was somehow able to access an early version of Sonic Unleashed that even features a level select and Debug Menu. The Menu has access to a variety of levels, boss fights, NPC test areas, sound tests, PS3 tests, the title screen, world map, ending, and many other early parts of the game.
Hey guys! This is Nargan.
Today is November 24, 2016. Thanksgiving in the United States. The more I think about it the more things I have to be thankful for, not only in my life but even in our community of fans who adore a blue hedgehog who runs fast. We may get into arguments over moons and continuity errors. We may start some over the top drama about something like Sonic Theories. (Hypothetically speaking of course.) We may even get into heated debates over whether or not a game that was obviously not ready for release and is riddled with bugs is actually the slightest bit good at all. (It's not.) But through it all, this fanbase is stronger than ever, and I'm thankful for it. Here are the main things that I'm thankful for in the Sonic fanbase and the series as a whole. Aaron Webber: This man. Where do I even start? His memes have lifted all of our spirits on one occasion or another. His cheery attitude can help us through the darkest of droughts. His hidden clues throughout many posts over the last year led me personally to have some of the most fun I've ever had just looking at pictures of all things. It was great to go back to the account to find a video of Sonic floating in space with a morse code message that would be deciphered hours later to read "life is rarely black and..." These pictures and gifs weren't just fun though. They showed the true fan behind the memes. The references he would pull out of nowhere would delight many a fan. It was clear and apparent that he truly loved this series. Everything he did was for Sonic, and it was all in good fun. I think my favorite memory with Webber thus far has to be the now famous (or infamous) "Attack Helicopter" tweet. I don't care what your stand is on the matter, whether it's "bullying" (Shoutout to BBFA3) or "discrimination" or whatever. That was funny. That was Sonic. That was the Sonic PR team putting themselves on the map. Sonic is relevant because of these kinds of messages. I've heard it said that Webber is "trying to run the account through the eyes of 90's Sonic." If that's true, Sonic wouldn't care about being Politically Correct and Sonic would never care about others opinions. This section has kind of turned into a rant but I think you get my point. Webber has turned Sonic around and I love him for it. He has certainly changed the opinion and culture surrounding this brand. Sonic Mania: I really don't have to say that much about this game, but how can you not? A fully fledged 16/32 bit 2D Sonic game years after Sonic 4. A true tribute to Sonic 3 & Knuckles done the right way. Just look at it. It's beautiful. The new zones are fantastic, and we've only seen two of them! Yeah Green Hill Zone is there but it's been thrown for a loop. (...ha.) The main reason to be excited about these remixed levels is that Green Hill is the most tame level. And you know that if that's the most tame, then we are going to have some ridiculous levels coming down the line. You won't even recognize some of them. Studiopolis' music is a joy to listen to, while Mirage Saloon brings back memories of a popular favorite Sonic CD. Tee Lopes knows what he's doing with years of experience under his belt. (If you haven't heard his Mystic Cave Sonic 2 HD remix yet, do it) Stealth and Taxman return to the Sonic scene as well, this time as fans-turned-developers to work on Mania as the lead designers and programmers. Overall what is there in this game to not be excited about? Eh. Ok, Knuckles is a bit too pink, but at the end of the day, if this is my main complaint, then this could be one of the best games in all of the Sonic series. Sonic Team: They did it. This year they finally did it. They revealed a new Sonic game and they took their time. It was a great feeling. When Project Sonic 2017 got revealed, I didn't even care that we would have to wait for a year and a half for this game. They seem to be putting some polish on this game. And that's really all we wanted. A game that wasn't rushed to meet a release window. A game that returned to the boost formula. (Well that was a lot of fans hopes) But still, it's incredible that we have this game on the way, that with this much time in development, should be able to top Generations in every way. My friends and fellow fans: My last point to talk on today is the state of the fans. We have long been the laughingstock of the internet. We have been made fun of more times than anyone can even count. ...We apparently have a romantic attraction to Big the Cat? (I'm not completely over the GameScoop debacle) But I think that this has made us stronger. This has made us grow as a community. To unite. Not to shut everyone out but to actually listen to others' opinions as well, which I don't find common across the web. While I'm not saying that we agree with everyone, I believe that we have grown to listen more than we used to. We have become closer to each other over silly things like memes and Totinos Stuffed Nachos. Over Sonic Shuffle and admittedly Big the Cat. Fans like Matt from TailsChannel and Emi Jones have kept this fanbase strong with more positivity than we've seen in a long time, and I think we owe a lot to them and fans like them all across the fanbase. Like I mentioned earlier, we do still get divided over some things like Sonic Theories, gone are the days of flame wars blazing through forums, with fans debating the Classic, Modern, and Adventure eras to no end. (For the most part) And overall, I'm proud of us. I'm proud that we've grown up. I'm thankful for all of my friends that I've met throughout the community through the years. And lastly, I hope that we can all come together next year, put aside out differences, and bury our faces in Sonic Mania for a few months. Because seriously you know that's all we'll be doing next Summer. Project Sonic 2017 to be called "Sonic Inferno" according to a Nintendo Switch 2017 titles rumor11/24/2016 According to a Nintendo Switch "2017 titles list" rumor, Project Sonic 2017 is called "Sonic Inferno". The rumor comes from NintenDrawing on Twitter and his sources.
Original tweet here: https://twitter.com/NintenDrawing/status/801857037034340352 Hello everyone, ThatCubeGamer here! Some changes have been made to the Sonic Spectrum website and this article will go over these changes.
So uh... Hi guys! This is Nargan. I know we've been dead for a while but honestly there really hasn't been any news lately.
The one major thing that has happened while we were out was the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog Level Pack for Lego Dimensions. Everyone's favorites are here! (Yes, even Big.) PERSONAL OPINION ALERT: Sonic's pack in Lego Dimensions to me delivers a more interesting and easier to understand version of Sonic Generations. While it isn't as long, because it's not a full game, and doesn't have the same charm as the Classic Modern mashup, it beats the latter in story for sure. While it is expensive (retailing at $29.99) it seems to deliver a worthwhile experience and it is the only good Sonic game you will play this year. (Sorry Fire and Ice) The only major problem I have with it is the fact that you have to purchase the starter pack ($79.99 on average) AND if you truly want to 100% the level pack you need to obtain Supergirl. This can be easily achieved for PS4 owners as she is included in their starter packs but it will not be as simple for Xbox users. Eggman looks great in this game. (Really hoping for an Egg Mobile set down the line) Another thing to talk about is the fantastic fanservice in this game. It contains many references to previous games and characters. There's even a not so subtle Genesis/Mega Drive in one cutscene! Product Placement Now with all that fanservice comes some nostalgia pandering. I would say that we should give Green Hill Zone a pass but this is about the fourth time we've had a new version of it since about 2010 with Generations, Sonic 4, and Lost World. Come on, we all know Windy Hill was just a name change. It even had Green Hill music halfway through. "Hey look it's those Sonic 2 special stages that we've completely forgotten about!" Speaking of music, the only tracks in the game left untouched are from the Adventure era. While that's all fine and good the classic zones have really poor rip off versions of the original songs. The title music alone is enough to make your ears bleed... Ok maybe that's a bit too far but the point still stands. Original music would've been great and I'd like to believe licensing got in the way. (I heard once that SEGA has to pay every time they use the Green Hill theme. Might not be true) My last complaint I have about the "game" is that you can't die. I know it's a Lego game but I'd appreciate it if there was an option so that it felt like a real Sonic game. Dying in a boss battle means nothing when you just regenerate and the boss maintains his weaker status. This may be a blessing however because the bosses are long and drawn out for the most part. Overall this is a great game that seems to be everything you could hope for in a year without a Sonic game. While I see it as nothing but a placeholder to scratch that Sonic itch until Mania, it gets the job done combining the basic Lego gameplay with some fantastic Sonic content. Overall Grade: (Placeholder IGN Meme) + Great References That Will Have Any Longtime Fan Excited + Top Notch Writing + It's Sonic In Lego Form. Duh. + Amount Of Characters (Even If They Are NPC's) - Genesis Stages Without Their Original Music - Lack Of Challenge (Though It Is Lego) - Other Figures Needed For 100% Completion Well we finally have some news on Sony's Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The director of Deadpool, Tim Miller, recently parted ways with the 2016 smash hit's sequel. Freeing him up to work on a new project, "Untitled Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Most Likely To Be Named Sonic The Hedgehog." Miller will work as Executive Producer on the film while Patrick Casey and Josh Miller will be writing the script. While the mention of Deadpool anywhere near the words "Sonic the Hedgehog" may worry some and excite others, not to worry. The film is still slated to be a "CG Live Action Hybrid Family Action Film." Meaning that it shouldn't be taking any direction from the previously mentioned R Rated flick. Original Source "The Hollywood Reporter" https://t.co/kPwugXx4wK |
